The History of the Darkmoon Faire

It’s been a decade-and-a-half since it was first introduced, but the faire has always been a great way for the players to loosen up and take a break from the relentless grinding.

Where to Find the Darkmoon Faire

Unlike other timed events, the Darkmoon Faire pops up once a month and lasts for a week until the next month. Specifically, the faire arrives on the first Friday of every month to set and officially opens to the public on the first Monday of the month. While setting up, you won’t be able to interact with the vendors, games, or NPCs that have their quests until they’ve finished preparing. The location of the Darkmoon Faire varies, as the venue rotates between Mulgore that’s southwest of Thunder Bluff and Elwynn Forest which is on the south of Goldshire. In a way, each of the two venues is located in the vicinity of the Alliance and the Horde.

Things You Can Only Do In the Darkmoon Faire

There are a lot of things that you can only do in the Darkmoon Faire! For starters, you can play minigames. There are two games that are exclusive to the faire: The Humanoid Cannonball and Tank Battle Simulator. The Humanoid Cannonball puts you in a Blastenheimer 5000 Ultra Cannon and launches you through the air towards the water target. Although if you don’t hit the target, let’s just say there will be consequences for you to face. The Tank Battle Simulator, on the other hand, is a simulation wherein you can test your tank commander skills. You’ll be using a DarkmoonTonk and be pitted against other players. Whoever is the last person standing wins the game. Note that both of these games don’t award any prizes whatsoever. The mini games are there for you to simply compete against your friends.

Collect Tickets

Similar to a carnival, you can earn tickets and turn them in for rewards. These tickets can be earned by doing a series of quests to NPCs that are in the faire. The most that you can earn in a quest is 40 tickets. There are 9 items that you can buy with tickets, and these can be bought through GelvasGrimegate.

Players take on WoW Classic Horde leveling zones for different reasons. Maybe you want to know what it’s like on the other side. Maybe you’ve simply forgotten your early days as a member. Regardless of your reason, we know why you’re here. So without further ado, here are the leveling zones for The Horde. With them, you’ll be taking on the Alliance while earning serious WoW Classic Gold on the side!

Starting Point

If you’re either Orc or Troll, the first zone you’ll be spending time in is Durotar, a desert. On the other hand, if you’re Undead and Tauren, you’ll be starting in the ghastly, horror town-esqueTirisfal Glades and the calming plains of Mulgore, respectively. You’ll be staying in those places until level 10, which can be pretty short but can feel like forever if you lack patience. This is especially true if you’ve been spoiled rotten by the main World of Warcraft’s QoL features.

The Middle of Things

Once you get past level 10 and start moving out of the starting zones, the world will feel much bigger. Aside from the literal sense of the word, there are various areas where you can grind until you get to Level 10.

Right from the get-go, you can start grinding in The Barrens, which are very much like the African savannah. It will definitely be a very hot place if it were real but, for some reason, its sights are awe-inspiring and very relaxing. Here, you can gain EXP until you get to level 33.

Other alternatives include Silverpine Forest and Stonetalon Mountains. The former, which is a cool evergreen forest, is a good place to grind until you reach level 20. The latter, on the other hand, is a pretty dry mountainous region, and is recommended for players who are level 15 to 25, and is a place where PvP battles are likely to happen. At the end of the day, The Barrens is still the better choice.

For even more options for people who get tired of grinding in the same place, again and again, they can try HillsbradFoothills and Ashenvale. They’re pretty fun places to level up in from 20 to 30, and they have lots of quests over there. The latter, however, is practically Night Elf territory, so it should go without saying that you should be ready to fight Alliance scum!

Into the Endgame

Upon approaching mid-30s, however, things can get quite tricky, as you’ll have no choice but to move, and almost all zones you’ll be grinding in next are contested territories. Be warned!

A good example of this is Stranglethorn Vale. It’s one of the more relaxing zones out there, with it being a lush jungle and all, but it’s also a favorite among Alliance players, so you need to be extra careful. Arathi Highlands is a good alternative, but it’s got fewer quests and has a few elite mobs from time to time.

Other good zones to level up in are Badlands, Swamp of Sorrows, and Dustwallow Marsh, where you can stay until you’re level 45. And at level 40-50, you can either grind in these three same zones or you can move on to Tanaris, Feralas, TheHinterlands, and SearingGorge.

Finally, the last stretch! Your level 50-60 grind is divided into two. The first half is usually spent in level 47-55 zones, like the Blasted Lands and Un’Goro Crater. The former is your usual wasteland while the latter is the game’s version of Jurassic Park. If all things considered are equal, Un’Goro Crater is the one with a better atmosphere. You can also try out the quests in Azshara, but there aren’t a lot of quests there. For the second half, it will be in level 55-60 zones, such as Eastern Plaguelands, Winterspring, and Silithus.

Unfriendly	3,000	Having an Unfriendly reputation leaves you unable to buy, sell or interact with the members in your faction. If you want to increase your reputation, refrain from killing any other members that are both within and outside your faction.
Neutral	3,000	This is the starting point for all the players who have just recently joined the faction. Whether it’s the Horde or Alliance, everyone begins with a Neutral reputation.
Friendly	6,000	In allied cities, chances are you’ll start with a Friendly reputation. The demeanor of the NPCs is more approachable compared to being neutral. However, no perks are given at this state.
Honored	12,000	Having an Honored reputation grants you a 10% discount on all items from the vendors of your faction and its allied cities. This is especially useful when you’re on a tight budget.
Revered	21,000	As if a 10% discount wasn’t enough, having a Revered reputation will earn you an additional 5% discount, totaling to a 15% discount on all the wares available for purchase in your alliance of choice.
Exalted	999	The Exalted reputation is the highest attainable ranking in all of WoW Classic. In addition to having a 20% discount, players with this reputation will also get access to special perks such as tabards and mounts.

THE KEY DIFFERENCES BETWEEN WOW CLASSIC AND PRIVATE SERVERS

Private servers, despite being a major source of headaches for the original creators, are alternate ways to enjoy certain games such as World of Warcraft. They’re also good for discontinued ones, as they let future players enjoy subtle differences in-game mechanics. Those differences are rooted in the private server developer's misunderstanding of certain features. While some of those are intentional, some are not.

Here are some differences between WoW Classic and the various WoW private servers.

World Buffs

Private servers typically make the notoriously frustrating game mechanics easier to deal with. One of which is world buffs. These buffs affect all players in certain areas and are activated by doing a special action such as turning in a quest. If you're used to private servers, you have players refreshing the buff as it nears the end of the duration. It's easy to keep the buff up for raids and dungeon runs.

Classic is a whole different beast altogether. World buffs have a cooldown period where you can't refresh it for a time after the effects fade. Warchief's Blessing, a Horde only buff, can only be applied every 12 hours, for example. Stacking them up would be harder in retail WoW.

Gold Farming

Dire Maul runs have a borderline exploit for WoWc gold farming in retail. It's pretty easy for some classes to run solo. When done right, it can result in you getting richer much more efficiently. Private servers have these runs nerfed to divert player attention to other activities in the game.

Armor Break and Spell Penetration Skills

The developers of the private server don't have all the information about the game's mechanics. They then have to guess whether armor break and spell penetration effects are additive or multiplicative. Adding to the possibilities is that they could operate on diminishing returns.

Most private servers go with additive, which makes boss armor/magic resistance a non-issue. However, that goes both ways, and players are at risk of having their armor trivialized. In retail, only the more powerful skill will take effect. It makes the boss fights more difficult in that regard.

Gathering Nodes

To make it easier on players, gathering nodes have sped up refresh rates to make their acquisition more convenient in private servers. Vanilla WoW is not as kind. As an example, gathering nodes for Black Lotus have a cycle of about 6 minutes as opposed to retail's 2 hours. The ingredient is critical for crafting several high-level flasks. The longer cycle makes the reagent a rarer commodity that will make flask crafting an expensive endeavor.

And that's Just Scratching the Surface!

There are many more differences, such as certain skill effects. The most notorious one is the warlock's pet summons. There's also the Regrowth and Chain Heal skills, wherein private servers don't really work the same way as in the original.

Then there's also loot drops. It is all over the place in emulations, making players either happily lucky or haplessly not since they can get boss drops just about everywhere. Then again, those items might not even work as intended. Creature AI is also different, as they either have no abilities or no sense of tactics and strategy.

All in all, playing World of Warcraft Classic won't give you the same experience in private servers. Even when compared to the current state of WoW Vanilla is more challenging and needs more time and effort. All About World of Warcraft Classic

Feeling a tinge of nostalgia for the old times? You know, when WoW was still new? Don’t fret! You can relive those glory days with WoW Classic. Go back to the good ol’ days of challenging grinding, as well as re-attempting the Naxxramas Raid. While the current WoW is still quite difficult (depending on the activity you're doing) many things have been eased by various updates. It's still an enjoyable game, but it feels different and quite distant to its first iteration.

Here's all you need to know about Classic!

WoW Classic Content

It will cover up to patch 1.12. Any and all content covered by updates from the start of the game up to that patch will appear in Classic. That includes raids, PvP, and more! Content will go live in six phases, the last of which will introduce the aforementioned Naxxramas Raid as well as the Scourge Invasion.

Staying true to the game's roots, Blizzard has made a list of features that are ‘not a bug'. These include no text wrapping on long quest objectives, untracked objectives, larger hitboxes for some characters, and more! WoW Vanilla would really give the ‘classic' WoW experience. However, there might still be elements of the current game state (such as the clock in the minimap) that would make it to this iteration.

Changes from Modern WoW

Slower progress; the level cap may have been lowered to 60, but you're going to be waiting for much of your playtime. Things you take for granted in the modern version don't exist, such as the Dungeon Finder. You're going to have to talk to other players to gather a group for raids. Guilds and regular parties will help with that, so socialization is important!

We're not sure how much of the QOL (quality-of-life) features will be brought to classic, so you can expect a more challenging adventure. You have to plan and think about where to invest your skill points and how to develop your talents further. Experimentation is more costly, and you have to trek all the way back to certain trainers to reset.

You can also revisit old zones destroyed by the Cataclysm. It's something you can't do in the current version, as they are in ruins now. These zones give more freedom, and the nostalgia they bring is definitely a good bonus.

Release Date

Blizzard has staggered testing phases for the game. The first was during the 22nd-23rd of May. Next, the second came on the 19th-20th of June. The last will happen on the 18th to the 19th of July. You may access the beta through your Battle.net account. Just select ‘Account Management', and select the ‘WoW Classic Beta'. July is your last chance, so don't miss it! You'll need an active subscription to be eligible to join.

The game itself will go live on the 26th of August, 27th for those not in the Americas. Get ready, because that's just a month and a half of waiting before it goes live.

Granted that this legacy server would be released with all its faults and bugs, the WoW Classic update seemed to be made only for a certain demographic. The “Vanilla” in World of Warcraft that we know today came about when Blizzard overhauled the functionality of every single class during the original base game. The developers added flying, easy access to mounts—as well as WoW gold, and many more to make our life easier in the retail version. However, with a multitude of expansions released for World of Warcraft over the years, the original feel to it seems to have been lost in time.

What to Expect in WoW Classic

First off, the entire sweep of game content will not be available. What Blizzard has decided to do is give players access to Molten Core and Onysxia, which were the two 40-man raids that they implemented back in the original 2004 title. Interestingly, they also decided to not necessarily run things by the book, as they’re not strictly going to duplicate the original timeline. An example of this is that bosses such as Dire Maul, Lord Kazzak, and Azuregon will be present in Classic as well.

Let’s not forget that the main inconveniences that bogged the original game will be there as well. There won’t be any flying and getting a WoW mount will take hours of saving gold. Furthermore, raids will require herding 40 cats in the same schedule. It’s definitely a headache, but some people think of it as charming, albeit better than the game that we now have—the one that has long lost its roots.

Future Updates

It looks like when it comes to any future updates regarding WoW Classic, things are looking pretty grim. There will be no expansions coming to this version, unfortunately. Once there is a decent number of players at level 60 or above and raids are used for farming, it’s all fun and games. But once you reach the true end game, won’t be anything left to do. It’ll become especially easy to get bored since you already finished the game and won’t have anything to look forward to anymore. If you’re a casual WoW player, it’s best to unsubscribe from this after about half a year or so. It’s not worth paying a few extra bucks every month knowing you won’t get any new updates to look forward to.

The Nostalgia Factor

If you’ve been playing World of Warcraft for years, chances are sheer nostalgia already has you going absolutely crazy hyped. The unmatched difficulty, huge raids, laborious character leveling, and complex weapon classes; are things that you and other thousands of longtime fans have always wanted. You won’t get to receive your first mount until you reach level 40 and character classes will be much more limited than what they are now. The side quests are fewer and less varied as well. Daily repeatable quests and pet battling systems more or less weren’t first implemented in the classic game, so don’t expect to find them here either.

Verdict: Should You Play WoW Classic?

There are a lot of inconveniences in the game due to it being stripped of its latest improvements, but those inconveniences may just be what you’re looking for if you’re still on the fence about trying it. While the accomplishments in the classic version will come slow, it’ll ultimately make you a bit more appreciative of every task that you fulfill and more prudent about the WoW gold you earn.
