Ultimate Watchtower Quest OSRS Quick Guide (Part 1)

Much as we wanted to keep the guide whole so you no longer have to read it in separate pages, the Watchtower quest is a rather long odyssey. Thankfully, this is the second and last part of the guide. Hopefully, this will help you finish this long but popular Old School RuneScape Quest.

After The War

We last left off with Og returning two of the crystals and giving the last piece of the relic. Now, with the relic completed, go back to Yanille, and go to the west gate. Head southeast to find the city. Upon entry, head straight to the market. There, you’ll find a food stall, where you have to steal a rock cake from.

Now that you got the cake, go south of the city, where you’ll find some guards. Give them the rock cake so they’ll let you pass. Keep going south, and beyond the aggressive ogre you’ll find more guards, which will give you a word puzzle. Answer it right, which is “death rune” – this means you’ll have to give them a death rune in exchange for a skavid map, which you’ll need in order to navigate the Skavid Caves.

Speaking the Language

In the Skavid Caves, you’ll find the magenta crystal. To do that, you need to find the following skavids. The first is the scared skavid, which you’ll find east of Gu’Tanoth. Tell him that you won’t hurt him as long as he teaches you their language.

For the others, here are their locations and responses to what they’ll say:

·         along the city’s main entrance path; “Cur”

·         northeast of Gu’Tanoth, along main entrance; “Ar”

·         south of Yanille’s west gate; “Ig” (take two nightshades for the quest)

·         outside the city, east of mountains; “Nod”

Once this is done, return to the scared skavid. He’ll tell you to talk to the mad skavid, which you’ll find in the southeast path of Ogre City’s entrance. To get in, use the OSRS gold bar on one of the guards. Upon entry, go south and cross the bridge westward, then enter the cave.

These are the things he says as well as the respective responses to them:

·         Ar cur = Gor

·         Bidith ig = Cur

·         Gor nod = Tanath

·         Cur tanath = Bidith

·         Bidith tanath = Cur

·         Tanath gor = Nod

·         Cur bidith = Ig

·         Gor cur = Ar

Get it right and you’ll get the magenta crystal. On a side note, get the two cave nightshades. After that, go to Gu’Tanoth marketplace or return to Yanille through the hole in the corner if you need access to the bank.

Magic Potion Versus Magic Users

At the marketplace, use one of the nightshades on an enclave guard, near the cave entrance to the west, to distract them. Make sure to complete the dialogue that will ensue, or else you’ll have to give another nightshade. After the dialogue, you will be warned about the enclave’s dangers. Once ready, proceed forward.

There will be a cutscene with an ogre shaman and a blue dragon. Don’t interact with the ogre shaman as you’ll lose 20 hit points for doing so. You’ll find the last two crystals inside, but you need the magic ogre potion to kill the shaman to get them back. So for now, you have to go back to Yanille and concoct one.

The ingredients are guam leaf, jangleberries, bat bones (must be crushed using mortar and pestle), and a vial of water. If you don’t have bat bones on hand, there are giant bats east of the watchtower. Put all the ingredients into the vial of water and you’ll get a potion, which will then become the magic ogre potion if you give it to the watchtower wizard.

With the potion in hand, you’re now ready to kill the shamans. For extra preparedness, get a pickaxe, anti-dragonfire shield, and some food. Once again, you’ll have to use the nightshade to get inside the cave. When you’re in, kill the six ogres using the potion while avoiding the dragon. The last shaman you’ll kill will give you cyan crystal directly in your inventory. If you accidentally drop it for some reason, you’ll find it in the southeast corner with the bones.

The last crystal is in the Rock of Dalgroth, which is also inside the cave. Be careful as this is where the OSRS blue dragons are. Use the pickaxe to mine the last crystal out.

Finishing the Quest

Now that the crystals have been completed, it’s time to return to the OSRS watchtower. To get it up and running again, place the crystals in the corresponding crystals:

·         yellow – southwest

·         grey – southeast

·         cyan – northwest

·         magenta – northeast

Pull the lever and there you have it, the quest is now complete. Enjoy your rewards and cherish the experience. Hopefully, you had a fun and easy questing time!
