What gun to use in what situation
Fortnite provides players
with all kinds of weapons. They can be found tucked in hidden corners, in
chests, and various other methods. Each one has its own strengths and
weaknesses, so your tactics should fit what kinds of weapons you get or want to

Early Circles
While there’s still a big space to play in and lots of players are still in the game, there are a few strategies you can use. If you wanna be all sneaky, finding a Suppressed Pistol would be your best bet. You can’t be too far though, or the gun will lose its effectiveness.
When facing off with other players head-on, maybe it’s best to use the Compact SMG. Its low damage can be offset by its high fire rate, making its damage-dealing on par with stronger weapons. These usually also have relatively quick reloading times making it good for a firefight.

done when the circles are still big. That way, your targets have a long way to
go before reaching you if you miss. Make sure you’re at a high place before

the Semi-Automatic Sniper Rifle would do.
Late Circles
At this point, all the remaining players will be crammed into a progressively smaller space. With no distance to gain, some weapons work better in these situations than others. One of which is the Rocket Launcher, which can destroy bases and other players like they were nothing. At shorter distances, it's harder to avoid even with the slow projectile. However, that can still be countered by a Sniper Rifle and a faster reaction time.
Shotguns also make for a good late-game weapon. As long as the target doesn’t have shields, one solid hit with a shotgun can down them. They’re also very good in close ranges, which the storm pushes players into as time passes.
Depending on Range
All weapons have an effective range. Past their limit, weapons lose effectiveness. The guns with the longest ranges are Rocket Launchers and Sniper Rifles. Those with a long to mid-range are Assault Rifles, Bows, and the scoped Crossbow. Mid-range weapons are Grenade Launchers, Shotguns, SMGs, Pistols, and a few Crossbows. Lastly, in the melee range, of course, are the melee weapons.

If you have long-range weapons, it’s best to keep your distance from others. When far away and holding a shotgun, then you should be finding a way to get close to your opponent first. Maybe you shouldn’t be too close when using the Rocket Launcher since you can also get caught in the blast. These are small but important things to think about and notice.
